An SEO Tip That Just Works (Especially If You Are a Beginner)

An SEO tip that just works, especially if you’re a beginner. People say SEO’s hard and complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. Even if you are a beginner, you can get tons of traffic to your website through simple strategies. And today I want to start you off with one.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Quora:
AnswerThePublic:
Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

First off, have you ever heard of the site Quora? It’s a simple question-and-answer site and it’s super popular. So popular, it’s one of the top hundred websites in the world, according to Similarweb. So how do you get that traffic that Quora gets? Well, it’s simple. They just answer questions that people are curious on. These questions are long tail keywords. In other words, they contain many keywords. Best of all, they aren’t competitive. It’s easy to rank for questions because no one is targeting them.

So how do you find these question based keywords in your industry? Well, have you heard of a tool called AnswerThePublic? It’s a tool that shows you all the popular questions that people are asking. Head over to AnswerThePublic, type in the keyword related to your space and hit Search. You’ll then get a list of all the questions that are popular within your space.

Now, if you want to see their search volume, you can type in any of those questions into Ubersugggest and it’ll tell you how many people search for them on a monthly basis. But before you go and write content on all those keywords, there are a few things that you need to know.

First, make each question a unique page, assuming you have enough content to write about. And when I mean enough content, I’m talking about hundreds of words, ideally 300 plus, if you can do even more than that, like 400, 500 a 1,0000, even better. But don’t just add fluff.

Second, you need to have an amazing answer. For example, I wouldn’t create a page answering the question of what’s two plus two, because everyone knows it’s four. And if not, they can just Google it. And it’s one word or one letter or one number more.

So which is just four, right? There’s not much content to create on that. But if I had a sports website, I may answer the question of what is it like to be Olympian? And my answer would be very detailed. From what it’s like to train, how long it takes to be Olympian. What kind of diets do you have to be on? What is it like to win or even lose? And how do you earn money as Olympian? Right? I don’t see Olympians getting shoe contracts like Michael Jordan. I would even break down how hard it is to be one. And the amount of people that try and like the percentage that you’ll actually have to be Olympian. So that way it gives people a perspective on how hard it is.

Third, you want to continually update your answers as things change. Just think of Wikipedia. It is the ninth most popular site in the world. Why? Because they keep their content updated. For reference, most topics there are more pieces of content than searchers.

For example, there are 165 searches a month for their term dog food in the United States, yet there are 2.6 billion results. You think all those searchers are going to go through 2.6 billion results? No, Google doesn’t even show them all because they know people don’t really go past the first page. Maybe the second page, rarely the third page, which means search engines have their pickings when it comes to determine what sites to rank. So make it easy for a search engine. Keep your content up to date because they’d rather show updated pieces of content versus ones that are years and outdated.

Fourth, promote your content. You don’t have to spend add money to do this. It’s as simple as sharing it on the social web or linking that newly created answer from some other webpage on your website that’s related to it.

Fifth, you have to do this with a lot of questions. Now I know this is not what you want to hear but this is how you’re going to do well. There isn’t a specific number of questions that you need to create content around and you can’t really do it with five or even 10 questions because that won’t get you much traffic in the long run. But if you do this with a thousand questions or even a hundred, you’ll notice nice traffic gains, and the more, the better, assuming you can create amazing answers to those questions.

Top 5 Favorite SEO Hacks

Top five favorite SEO hacks. To win, you have to think outside the box. If you just do what everyone else is doing, you won’t win, that is especially true with SEO. Here are my five favorite SEO hacks that are out of the box.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
calculator.net:
CodeCanyon:
Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

Hack one, buy websites. Have you noticed there blogs about everything? Well, as simple strategy for you to get immediate results is to look for a blog in your space. This shouldn’t be hard, as there’s over a billion blogs. Look for one that has good rankings and traffic, you can find out their traffic stats using tools like Ubersuggest. What you’ll want is a blog that ranks really well within your space, has great content, but doesn’t monetize through ads or selling products or services. And then what you want to do is merge that content over to your website, do 301 redirects, put them to the appropriate URLs when you’re doing the 301 redirects, and what you’ll find is you’ll start getting instant rankings and traffic.

Hack number two, ranking number one on YouTube with SEO. So YouTube’s algorithm is the opposite of how Google SEO works. If a video does really, really well in the first 24 hours, when it’s released on YouTube, it’s probably going to do well in the long run. So how do you get your videos to do well in the first 24 hours? Not through ads, because that takes too long to get up and running. Usually, by sending out an email blast. So when I release a video, I send out an email blast and even a push notification blast, within the first hour the video goes live, I let everyone know about it, I get tons of views, tons of engagements, and my YouTube views go through the roof, and my rankings shoot up.

Hack three, release tools. Have you heard of calculator.net? The site doesn’t look amazing, but it has 6.2 million backlinks. Let me say that again, 6.2 million backlinks. “How?” You may ask, it’s because they have calculators on everything. People love linking to calculators. If you release free tools that people want and they love, you will build links naturally, you won’t even have to send out an email. It works that well. If you can’t create these tools, you can just go to sites CodeCanyon, pop, buy the tools, pop the bubble on your website, and boom, you’re off to the races.

Hack number four, respond to blog comments. This one is simple, and you probably are like, “Wait, this isn’t really a hack, Neil.” But let me explain why it’s so valuable and it is a hack. Wikipedia is the seventh most popular site on the web, according to to Similarweb. You know how Wikipedia does so well on Google? They update their content on a regular basis.

Another way to also keep your content updated, and I wouldn’t recommend that you not do the first, so you should still try to update your content at least once or twice a year, is you can also use blog comments. And when you use blog comments, what you’ll find is that when people leave comments, and you respond to them, and you leave really thorough comments, people come back and keep leaving more comments.

This produces more content and in essence, you’re updating those pages and making more and more valuable for Google, which helps with your rankings. And when you’re leaving comments, don’t just leave a thank you, make sure it’s thoughtful, it’s relevant, and it helps people out.

Hack five, use fewer key words, or at least for App Store SEO. So SEO doesn’t just exist on Google, Apple App Store is extremely popular. No matter where you are, if you turn around and you see someone, chances are, someone has an iPhone, which means they also are on the App Store. But if you want to rank in the App Store, you shouldn’t shove tons of keywords in your title, even description.

Most people don’t know this, but the fewer keywords that use in your title or description in the App Store, the easier it is to rank for those terms. Just make sure that the keyword you pick or the keywords you pick are super popular.

It makes it way easier to rank and get higher rankings, versus going after too many keywords in the App Store, which makes it harder to rank.

SEO Tips That Work (Even for Beginners)

In this video, you’ll learn some SEO tips that work and are easy and fast to implement.

Complete SEO Course for Beginners: Learn to Rank #1 in Google ►

Link Building for Beginners: Complete Guide to Get Backlinks ►

Video SEO: How to Rank YouTube Videos on the First Page of Google (Fast) ►

How to Use Internal Links to Rank Higher in Google ► [

***************************************
The first SEO tip is to preserve link equity by fixing broken backlinks.

Links that point to a broken page are called broken backlinks. While they’re pointing to a 404 page, your site isn’t getting any value from them. To regain that value, you can restore your broken pages with backlinks or redirect that URL to a live and relevant one.

Watch the video to learn how to do it.

The next tip is to license your custom images with Creative Commons.

Creative Commons licenses allow creators to license their content under copyright law. If you license your images through Creative Commons, people can legally use them on their site. And some of these licenses require a link to the creator’s website.

Learn more about this SEO tactic from the video.

The next SEO tip is to repurpose blog posts into videos.

Google is showing more and more videos in their SERPs. And your brand has the opportunity to own at least two spots on the first page of Google by having a page from your website and a video on the same or a similar topic. The more SERP real estate you own, the more clicks you’ll get.

Watch the video to find out more about this SEO technique.

Another great tactic is to go after low-hanging featured snippet opportunities.

Featured snippets are excerpts from an article that appear in Google’s SERP. And because they often appear at the top of Google, they usually get tons of clicks.

Watch the video to learn how to find opportunities for your website to get into featured snippets.

The final tip is to add internal links to boost important pages on your site.

Internal links are the easiest way to pass and improve PageRank across your site. And you have full control over these links.

There are many ways to find internal linking opportunities. Watch the video to learn a few of the easiest ones.

Learn SEO in Just 5 Minutes a Day

Learn SEO in just five minutes a day. My company NP Digital was the 21st fastest-growing company in the United States according to INC Magazine. And SEO is one of the biggest reasons for my success and that company’s success. It allows you to get traffic, leads and sales without paying an arm and leg. If I had to buy my traffic with ads, it would cost $5,134,294 a month.

And ad costs keep going up each month, but that was the latest number when I Googled for each of my keywords just for shits and giggles. And that’s expensive. While with SEO, I don’t even spend 1% of that. If I had to spend that five plus million dollars, I wouldn’t have a profitable company.

So how do you become an SEO expert without having all the time in the world? Well, here’s how you do it in just five minutes a day.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________

Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

Step one, go to Ubersuggest. Put it in your URL, create account, create a project and put in some of the keywords you want to rank for. Ubersuggest will also give you keywords that you can rank for if you don’t have any keywords that you want to rank for. This doesn’t even take five minutes. And every week, Ubersuggest will send you emails on what’s wrong with your site and how to fix it. And it’ll give you simple tasks, two or three, and that’ll improve your rankings over time and teach you SEO because you’re doing it on your own website.

Step two, I want you to read NeilPatel.com, Backlinko and Search Engine Land. You don’t have to read articles every day or anything like that, but just read one or two a week that you like. It’ll keep you up-to-date with new tactics and strategies and how to keep improving your rankings.

Step three, listen to Marketing School Podcast. Not every episode is on SEO. There’s an episode every single day, but at least one episode a week is usually on SEO. And the Marketing School Podcast is under five minutes. And as you listen to a few of the podcast episodes, if you just give it time and you listen to them for a few months, not every single day, but just pick some every single week, you’ll learn SEO quickly without spending more than five minutes a day.

Look, it doesn’t take much more than that. Just give it some time, do this for a few months, and you’ll learn SEO quickly without spending more than five minutes a day.

And if you don’t want to spend the time and you just want someone to spend more time on it and get the results faster, check out my ad agency, NP Digital, where we do this for companies. Heck we do all forms of marketing for companies.

Add This to Your Website for an Instant SEO Boost

I added this to my website and I increased my time on site by 120%. The longer people stay on your website it tells Google that people like your website, they find it valuable and that Google should consider ranking it higher. This one thing also increased my backlink count by 24,453 referring domain names. That’s a lot of backlinks. The more links you have the higher you will rank over time. And best of all I added 240,392 visitors from Google, a month just from one simple keyword. And keep in mind that’s through SEO, not paid advertising that’s SEO which means I didn’t pay for that traffic.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
CodeCanyon:
Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

And here’s a cool thing. You can do the same exact thing on your website just like I did. And can you guess how I did it? I added a free tool to my website. It’s called Ubersuggest. And if you think about Ubersuggest if you haven’t checked it out, go to ubersuggest.com or neilpatel.com/ubersuggest or to the same URL. And when you put in your website or a keyword it gives you all this SEO data such as how popular a keyword is or how much it costs per click or how much traffic a website’s getting or who’s linking to it.

Now with this tool, a lot of people charge $100 a month for a lot of the features that I give away for free. Sure there’s paid plans on Ubersuggest but the majority of the features are for free. Now do you get the value here? Most people charge $100 a month, I charge zero for most of the features.

It doesn’t matter if my product is better or worse than theirs. And I’m not saying it is better or worse, but when people look at it they say, 100$ or zero. Zero creates a lot of traffic and backlinks cause a lot of people, majority of the people don’t want to pay money. So how do you generate similar results? Especially if you don’t have a budget like me to hire developers and designers and product people.

Well there’s this site called CodeCanyon. Check it out, CodeCanyon has tools on everything. Real estate, there’s tools for that. Car industry, there’s tools for that. Storage industry, there’s tools for that as well. There’s tools for literally every industry.

Heck, if you’re competing with me in the SEO industry or digital market industry, there’s tones of tools for that on CodeCanyon. And they’ll sell you these tools anywhere from usually $10 to $50. And what you do is you download the tool, it’s white label, you add your own logo to it. You upload it to your server. It’s on your website now. And over time whether you promote the tool hard or not or just link to it a few times on social media and linked in your navigation, over time what you’ll find is, the tool will be one of the most popular pages on your site .

It’ll naturally get back links. It’ll naturally get social shares and It’ll do well. And when that tool gets all that authority remember that tool’s on your site, your domain. So it’s actually boosting the overall authority for the whole site. So that means if you have this blog article on dog food or SEO or marketing or dentist, it makes your whole site rank higher. That’s the trick. That’s what you need to do.

The 5 Most Important Skills in SEO

The five most important skills in SEO. SEO shifted from being a technical discipline 10 years ago to being a multidisciplinary area that involves a few different skills.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
CodeCanyon:
Google Data Studio:
Asana:
Trello:
Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

The first skill I have for you is creativity. See, in SEO, one of the biggest ways that you get rankings is building backlinks. Everyone used to build backlinks by writing content. And when they were doing that, I started creating a really detailed guide that had visual graphical images, kind of like an infographic, and my content started generating more backlinks than other people. Then other people started doing the same. Then I started doing data-rich posts.

If you look on neilpatel.com, I have Ubersuggest, which is a SEO tool that’s mainly for free, has over 10,000 backlinks. I have A/B Testing Calculator, I have a backlink tool that just tells you how many backlinks you have. I continually release tools and update my tools. And by doing that, I’m generating more SEO traffic and ranking higher because I’m not actually going out there and fending for the links. Just releasing a tool for free has done really well for me.

The second skill that you need is understanding analytics. I’m not talking about reading a report. There’s Google Analytics, there’s Google Data Studio, but when you look at the report and you’re like, oh my search traffic’s going down or it’s going up, do you understand what’s actually driving you more conversions? What key words, what change you need to make to actually get more better results? That’s what I mean by analytic skills, right? So when you look at these reports, what changes do you need to make to your SEO strategy so you can actually get the results you’re looking for?

The third skill that you need to understand is CRO. That’s Conversion Rate Optimization. You’re probably like, “Neil, CRO has nothing to do with SEO.” Well, think of it this way. You’re writing a lot of content when you do SEO, right? Content marketing, you need that to get backlinks, to get traffic on Google, Google, a lot of it, is based on text and words people are typing in. And when you get this traffic to this content, you’ll find out as a SEO well, I’m getting all this traffic. But then when you talk to other people in the company like, yeah, you’re getting more traffic, but we’re not really seeing any more sales, any more leads. So how can you convert those visitors into customers? So with those blog posts, you need to mix in links that generate sales or forms that capture more leads.

The fourth skill that you need to have is people skills. See, SEO is turning into a multi-person organization, and it has for a long time. So you got to work with other people. You got to work with people who can promote the content, whether it’s on social media or whether it’s doing manual outreach and asking for people to share that content. You need to deal with people who can write content, who can create social media content, people who can deal with copywriting, just for headlines.

The last skill that you need to learn is experimentation. Look, did you know that Google roughly makes nine algorithm changes per day? That was data from a few years ago, they haven’t released any new data points on how many algorithm changes they’re doing per year. But when you look at it, they’re making almost 10 plus algorithm changes a day. How do you keep up with that? Well, you got to test.

I don’t always know the right answer. You’re not going to always know the right answer. You got to test. From testing your title text to meta text to see what gets the most clicks to testing a SEO strategy on a split page to see if it increases your rankings or tanks it to testing things like crosslinking to updating content to testing on adding videos within your content to see if you can increase time on site. These are all things you need to test.

And if you don’t test, you won’t be able to keep a with the algorithms, so don’t be afraid to test and have your traffic fluctuate in a positive way or a negative way. Testing is good, ’cause it tells you what you should do more of and what you should do less of and it’ll help you improve in the long run.

Content Marketing VS SEO // Which One Drives More Traffic?

If you had to pick SEO or content marketing, and you could only pick one, which one would you choose? Today I’m going to break down content marketing versus SEO. Which one drives more traffic?

00:00 – Introduction
00:23 – The old SEO Vs Content Marketing debate
01:16 – The Beginner’s Guide To Content Marketing
01:25 – Doing Content Marketing On Different Platforms
02:03 – Targeting The Right Keyword and Offering Amazing Content
02:31 – Writing Great Headlines And Meta Descriptions For Your Content.
02:54 – Optimizing Your Content For Readability
03:09 – Structure Data
03:43 – Internal Linking
03:58 – User Experience Improvements
04:22 – Importance Of Optimizing And Having a Good Content on Your Bottom Line.

What do you think? Is it SEO? Is it content marketing? Well, you’re about to find out. A lot of people actually say, “This is a false debate since SEO and content marketing should work together.” And that’s definitely true when it comes to generating traffic on your own website.

If SEO’s about optimizing pages on your website, ultimately you’ll be optimizing the pages that at least have some content, whether it’s your title, maybe a description, it doesn’t have to be a blog post. So there is truth to it in which it’s really hard to do SEO if you don’t have content. And a lot of people who watch my channel already know SEO to some degree, but with content marketing, most people don’t.

So we could say that content marketing has more potential to generate traffic than SEO if you think about it in more holistically. Beyond just visitors, you could be getting views to your YouTube videos, engagement, followers, even clicks on social media channels, people listening and subscribing to your podcast, viewers in your live event.

Now most of my audience is focused pretty heavily on generating traffic to their own websites. So let’s dive in to how content marketing and SEO should work together.

The bottom line is your content won’t perform well unless you do SEO as well. Sure, you make it a social boost from it in the short run but if you want long-lasting traffic, you need a focus on SEO and content marketing. And of course, content marketing can drive you traffic without SEO, like YouTube, podcasts, that are all examples of content marketing but if you combine both, you’ll do even better.

7 Tips to Work 10x Faster in SEO: More Traffic Spending Less Time

Your competition isn’t just doing SEO, they have a team helping them out. So how do you compete with them when you don’t have a team? Well, don’t worry, I’m going to help you out here. Today I’m going to break down seven tips to work 10x faster in SEO, drive more traffic and spend less time doing so.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________

Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

On a side note, funny enough as I’m recording this video, someone tells me I do a lot of hand gestures, I didn’t know that until now. So if you think I do a lot of hand gestures, leave a comment below telling me if you think I do a lot of hand gestures, and hopefully I’ll try to tone it down a little bit. So, let’s first get started, and let’s start off with technical SEO.

Tip one, only do a few hours per month, or a few hours per week if your website’s big.

Tip two, focus on site speed, this is something that can make or break your SEO performance. Think about it, there’s 5G, people like me are a little bit too frugal, so I won’t pay for 5G. My phone is still on 4G, or LTE, or whatever it’s called, but there’s a lot of people even if you’re on 5G, you’re in an area that doesn’t get 5G reception.

So tip three, and this is the first one for content creation. I want you to create content around areas that you’re already getting some results in. If Google likes your site for certain topics and your business is related to those topics, do more of that versus going after other topics that are also related to your business that Google’s not giving you any traction on, right? One gets you results quicker, the other one not so much. And once you get the results by doing the first group, you can then eventually go up to the second group.

Now, let’s go after internal linking, and let’s go to the first tip of that which is tip four. The same thing with prioritizing my content applies here, you need to work on reinforcing keywords around topics that you’re already getting some traction on. You’ll look at your existing pages and look for parts of your content that you can go ahead and add internal links to, to other relevant pieces of content for.

If you go and put it in your URL to Ubersuggest, go and check out the Top Pages report. If you haven’t checked out the Top Pages report, make sure you go and do it now, it’s my favorite feature in Ubersuggest. It’ll tell you your top pages, so you’ll know which ones to interlink more to, and you would take the most popular pages and link them to the ones that aren’t as popular when it’s relevant to help juice them up.

The next category I want to discuss is competitive research, and this brings me to tip five. Try and find keywords that smaller websites are ranking for, especially when you don’t have a huge website with a high domain authority and lots of backlinks. Keywords that smaller websites rank for are typically easier for you to rank for as well. Use the Traffic Analyzer on Ubersuggest to see what those keywords are for your competitor so you know to go after them.

Now, I want you to also think about link building, which is the next section, and that brings me to tip six. Much like with competitive research, the best opportunities will be probably found by reverse engineering the competitors that aren’t too big.

Look, your big competitors, what they’re doing, doesn’t always work for you. What works for Wikipedia, isn’t going to work for me. If I want to start writing on elephants, no one’s really going to read into it. But, if you start focusing down on what’s working on the smaller websites, chances are it’ll work for you too.

And tip seven, look for backlink opportunities using the Backlink Opportunity report in Ubersuggest. See, if someone’s willing to link to not just one, not just two, but three plus of your competitors, the chances are they’re willing to link to you too.

So then, the Backlink Opportunity report shows you everyone who links to your competitors, that doesn’t link to you, you start reaching out to those sites and they’re more likely to link back out to you. Sure, you still got to email them, not everyone’s going to respond, but you’ll have a much higher success rate.

Why Some SEO Gurus Have Been LYING To Your Face This Whole Time

SEO gurus are teaching you tactics that work, but in general, they’re still giving you bad advice. Today, I’m going to break down why some SEO gurus have been lying to you to your face this whole time.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

In most cases, SEO gurus give you tactical advice instead of strategical, long-term execution on what works best. In isolation, yes, each tactic can help you, but it only takes you so far.

If you look at the biggest companies who dominate SEO, they don’t dominate it because they purely focus on SEO. Instead, they dominate because they’ve built a good product or service.

Google wants to show you what’s best for users, right? It’s not about what’s the most backlinked sites.

But if you want to build a big business, do well, there’s a few things you need to know. One, you need to focus on your product or service. Is your product or service amazing? So amazing that people want to keep using it over and over again?

Number two, you need to build a brand. And Google’s looking at brand queries because the bigger the brand for terms, you know, or categories, they know that that company is less likely to create fake news so they’re more likely to rank them higher because people have an affinity towards that brand.

So focus on creating amazing product, amazing service and build a good brand. And the way you focus on building a good brand is by going omnichannel, leveraging SEO, content marketing, good product, good service, paid ads, radio ads, television ads, heck, my ad agency, NP Digital, we run television ads. Not because television is amazing, it’s a great medium for me to reach more people and it allows people to know more about my brand.

The third thing that I want you to do, if you want to do well in the long run is you need to keep experimenting. Just because a marketer, or a guru, including me, tells you something doesn’t mean that advice is going to hold true forever.

So, you need to constantly run experiments. And even if you find something that wins, it may not win tomorrow so you got to rerun tests over time.

So, if you follow those three things, you’re going to do better in the long run. Think about it, you need a holistic approach. And if you need a holistic approach with your marketing, check out my ad agency, NP Digital.

If you have any questions on your marketing strategy, leave a comment below, let me know your marketing strategy. What are you trying to do with SEO, or content, or paid? What’s working, what’s not? And I gladly will give you feedback for free and tell you how to adjust things to get better results.

Now, keep in mind, once you adjust things, right away, you’re not going to see results that you may be looking for. Sometimes, it takes a week, a month, three months. If it’s a CRO tweak, sure, you’ll see results right away. But, for most marketing changes, it can take months before you see results so just make sure you’re patient as well.

My 4 Favorite SEO Tools (And The Ones That Are a Time Waste)

There are one to many SEO tools. It can be overwhelming. So today I’m going to break down my favorite four. Today I’m going to break down my four favorite SEO tools and the ones that are a time-waste.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________

Ubersuggest:
Click Flow:
Google:
Google trends:

____________________________________________

Number one, of course, Ubersuggest is one of my own tools. What I really love the most in Ubersuggest there’s a few features and I’m going to break them down, is whenever you’re doing keyword research in the keyword ideas report, you can click on this button, page one, ranking potential, and you put in your URL and it’ll tell you all the keywords that you can rank page one on, based on your domain authority, your on page SEO, how long your site’s been around.

So it’ll tell you what you actually have a shot to rank for right now. Right? And that’s great because SEO is a long game, but who doesn’t want to see more short-term results. The other feature that I really love in Ubersuggest is the competitor analysis. I can put in my domain name and my competitor’s domain name.

And it’ll show me all the keywords that they rank for the I don’t rank for. And it’ll also show me all the keywords that you know, I’m ranking for, that they’re also ranking for. And then you want to check out what are the keywords that they’re ranking for that you’re not even targeting because that’s a keyword gap. That’s your opportunities.

Another feature that I love in Ubersuggest is the back links opportunity report. And if someone’s linking to three of my competitors, you know that if they linked to three of my competitors, they don’t mind linking to other websites in my space. So if I take the time and hit them up, there’s a great chance that they’ll link back to me.

The next tool I like is Click Flow. It’s used to test your title tags and your meta description. This is great because a lot of times you can boost your rankings, not by building more links, but just getting more clicks. If everyone does a Google search for a keyword like dog shoes and they click on the second result, instead of the first result, it tells Google that no one wants a first result. They prefer the second result and they’ll switch the rankings.

The next tool I like, Google search console. It’s free. You can discover keywords that you need to double down on. Here’s what I mean by that. Go to Google search console, see the pages that are getting traffic.

Look for the keywords that you’re ranking for the bottom of page one, on page two, page three. And see if you’re using those keywords within your content. If not, if those keywords are relevant, integrate them, it’ll boost your rankings for those terms, helps you double down and you should see results within 30 days.

Of course, one of my last favorite tools is Google trends. It allows you to explore new opportunities and find a lot of great keywords and categories to go after, especially what’s trending. And what’s going on an upward trend versus a downward trend because you want to go after more keywords and terms that are on an upward trend.

As for a time-waste, you know, when you look at very technical SEO auditing tools, there’s a lot of them out there. It’s only worth it if you have huge websites with thousands of images, complex internal linking structures, unless you have a critical technical SEO problem.

Most of the time, you won’t need to be running lots of crazy in depth audits. You can do a lot for free within just the Ubersuggest, auto report. Now think about the ROI of your efforts. What’s working best in your SEO. Don’t spend time and money on all the tools and activities that aren’t really yielding those results. But for most of your day-to-day stuff, you’re not going to be using those features. You’re just going to be paying for stuff that you don’t use.

So instead, I want you to focus on what’s driving your ROI. Go look in your Google analytics, go look at what’s driving the conversions, your goals, what content, what channels. Focus more on that than wasting your time looking at 20 tools.

It’s not just about the cost. Cost isn’t the issue of the tools. The real issue with using too many tools is it’s a big time suck. If you spent your time on what’s generating your ROI, you’ll make more money.

How To COMPLETELY RECOVER Your Lost SEO Traffic

Lost some of your SEO traffic? No worries. There’s a solution for that. Today, I’m going to teach you how to recover your loss SEO traffic.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Sucuri:
Screaming Frog:
Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

One thing I want you to do is check the URL on this screen. It’s a penalty indicator. So you can go to that URL and it’ll show you if your traffic loss is related to Google algorithm update. In addition to that, I want you to check Google search console for a manual penalty. Because if you have a manual penalty and they tell you what it’s for, you need to fix that as well.

Now, if you have a traffic drop from a specific algorithm update, it doesn’t mean there’s a penalty necessarily, right? It just means Google had just set algorithm that sometimes you’ll gain more traffic, sometimes you lose some traffic, sometimes you stay roughly the same.

The first thing you need to do is go to Ubersuggest and run an SEO audit. So there’s a site audit feature within Ubersuggest. And what it’ll do is it’ll break down your overall site, the health, your load speed. It’ll look at Google core web vitals and any issues.

Number two, check your website for malware. I want you to use Sucuri to scan your website for malware as well. You can go to the URL on the screen, sitecheck.sucuri.net, and that’ll help you figure out that, “Hey, is something wrong happening?”

Next, I want you to run a link audit. You’ll be shocked. Sometimes, you’ll get really bad sites from adult sites or gambling sites or pill sites linking to you that you don’t want just because someone’s trying to tarnish your rankings. So go to Ubersuggest and put in your URL and see if there’s any links that look shady and look at the anchor text.

Ubersuggest will break down the anchor text of the sites linking to you if you see any funny keywords, like any pill names like Cialis or Viagra, and funny enough, believe it or not, we see this sometimes in the client sites. You want to get all this stuff cleaned up, disavow them, try to remove them. And in most cases, Google’s really good. They don’t really try to penalize you for bad links that they know that you may have not created.

What are the keywords that used to rank for, but don’t rank for? I recommend searching for each of those keywords on Google. Look at all the sites that are ranking at the top. What are their articles covering that yours don’t? Is it that yours is still an outdated? Is it that their’s way more thorough and in-depth?

And I’ll take the content from the weaker one and make sure anything I didn’t talk about in the stronger page also includes those elements. In addition to that, I would go back and use Screaming Frog and crawl my site to see if any of my internal pages also links to the weaker article and I would change those URLs to the newer one.

So on top of doing the 301 redirect, you need to change your internal links as well to ensure that you’re updating your site.

Lastly, what I would do is make sure you delete any content that is irrelevant. You don’t need a site with a million pages. You’re not Wikipedia. You’re not New York Times. It’s better to have a thousand pages or a hundred pages that are super, super strong, and in-depth and thorough, than 5 million pages with 99% of them being weak, thin content that no one cares to read.

You’re spreading your juice, your authority, to too many pages that are weak and it can actually hurt your ranking versus having less content. About.com, which is owned by the New York Times, eventually got rid of the domain name “about.com,” split their site into a handful of sites that are more niche-based.

They deleted thousands of pages of content and they saw their traffic go up because they focused their authority on relevant articles that are super useful to people versus irrelevant ones.

So if you use those strategies and implement them, you can recover your traffic.

Sometimes the Best SEO Strategy Is To ABANDON Some Keywords

I have 9 million visitors and now I’m trying to get less traffic. Today, I want to break down how sometimes the best SEO strategy is to abandon some keywords.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
A Step-by-Step SEO Strategy For Beginners | Getting Traffic With Old and New Websites:

3 SEO Trends in Automation for 2021 (Trend #3 Is Coming Sooner Than You Think):

Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

Look, neilpatel.com gets roughly eight to 9 million visitors a month. And it ranges, some months are better than others, some months I even had 10 million visitors, some months, there’s seven. Really depends on the season as well.

Now, when I look at neilpatel.com, when I first started off, I wasn’t targeting buyers, I was targeting any keyword that would get high traffic, and I just wanted as much traffic as possible. People were searching on how to make money on Instagram. You know what? Boom, I create a article on that. People want to know how to get more Instagram followers. Boom, I create a article on that. People want to know something about TikTok, even though my customers don’t care to pay me for TikTok marketing, boom, I create a article on that.

Why was I doing that? Well, the main thing is, is I thought the more traffic, the better because a lot of people wanted this traffic and people would pay money to rank for these keywords or more so pay money to get at the top of Google in the paid ads.

And what I learned from that strategy is, if the intent of those keywords doesn’t exactly match what your ideal customer is looking for, you’re getting the traffic, but you won’t make any money. So you’re probably wondering, what am I doing now, right? Well, I’m doing a few different things.

First off, I don’t care for traffic anymore. Yes, I want more traffic, but I want the right traffic. I don’t really care if I have 9 million visitors or 1,000,000 visitors. I really care about conversions and what’s driving those conversions. And I’ve been doing this for a while now.

So I want you to go into Google Analytics, set up some goals and conversion tracking, and look to see what’s driving conversions. Focus more on getting those traffic sources. That’s the first step.

The second thing I want you to do is go and look for what your competitors are paying money on paid ads for. So you can use tools like Ubersuggest and put in your competitor’s URLs. See what keywords are ranking for, see what keywords are targeting for on a paid ad perspective. And that’ll give you a big idea of, hey, these are the keywords we should be going after and these are the keywords that we shouldn’t be going after.

The third thing that I’m doing is focusing on other channels that aren’t necessarily related to keywords. If you look at the big companies out there, Microsoft, IBM, Airbnb, Nike, whatever it may be, they grow their revenue in many different ways.

The next thing that I’m doing is going after keywords that I know I can easily rank for. So if you go to Ubersuggest and you put in a keyword that you know is good, like, I’m in the marketing industry, so I may put in digital marketing, and you’ll see a report that loads and it shows your overall traffic, like, for the term digital marketing and how many people click on it.

And you put your URL in there and it’ll end up breaking out once you put your URL, all the related keywords that are good and that you can easily rank for. And I want you to look at each of those keywords, do some searches, do some research, and make sure that you’re seeing direct competitors, not somewhat competitors, but direct competitors.

And if they are, and they have a high CPC and good traffic, that means I know that that’s a good keyword for me to target in SEO because it will drive sales, which is very important.

And that’s a strategy that I would recommend, and remember, traffic isn’t everything, conversions and sales is. It all starts with tracking your conversions in things like Google Analytics, which they can do for free.

A Step-by-Step SEO Strategy For Beginners | Getting Traffic With Old and New Websites

Starting with someone who has no SEO strategy currently, let’s start there. Do you think there’s a site-wide level of optimization that has to happen? Like, straight up title tag, meta tag, optimization of different queries on the site, an internal linking structure, and then a content marketing strategy on top of that to add value to the site, as a base level SEO strategy? Or what would you suggest to someone who, first level is they don’t currently have an SEO strategy, and then we’ll ask about someone who already does, and what they can optimize, but just base level, if you don’t have one, what do you do in today’s world?

The Biggest Impact on SEO:

Social Media Strategies To Boost Your SEO:

Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

You know, you can look at keywords, top pages, et cetera. But what I wanted to show you is this is the easiest thing. So you just click on Site Audit. Again, this is free. I don’t even capture an email straight up, this is just free. So you don’t have to put in an email to use it, and it’ll tell you everything that’s wrong. Pages, your score, your load time. And you can be like, “All right, “let’s look at my Issues, or Critical Errors.” And you can just go to all of them, and be like 31 pages have a low word count.

And then you can to Warnings, and you can do the same thing. Two pages have duplicate meta descriptions. So what is it, right? So what is that, and how do I fix it?

It just breaks down everything you need to fix, in priority, from how hard is it to implement, to how much traffic will you get by fixing them? So that’s the first part of SEO, right? It’s just like the lowest hanging fruit. The second part is all about keywords.

So if I’m trying to target the keyword, marketing, and this is super effective, or digital marketing, right? And I use these tactics on my own site. To give you an idea, if I type in digital marketing, I think I’m like number one or two or something. Here’s all the paid listing, and I am the first organic listing. I do that for a lot of terms like online marketing. I’m up there somewhere. I’m number two. Funny enough, number one’s also my website. Although I sold it.

But here’s a simple thing I do. It’s all about finding the right type of keywords, right? The way I find the right type of keywords is, one, you can just type in keywords like digital marketing, or whatever you want to target. Here’s my process.

I go and I look for keywords, and I just click View All Keywords, and it’ll show me everyone who’s ranking, how many links they have, their domain scores, socials, et cetera. So I’ll go find keywords, and it gives me solid metrics. When I mean solid, as in non-opinionated metrics. Like the average webpage that ranks in the top 10 has 435 backlinks and a domain score of 49. So I know, is it going to be easy for me to get 435? Is it going to be hard? because I can have a rough idea of how many links I have.

So I’ll just go through here, and I’ll find keywords. As you can see, there’s like 500 suggestions here. Here are some other related keywords I’ll post from our database. This has 30,000 recommendations.

And then the last step when I’m trying to create content, after I find some keywords that are typically… I look for keywords that are high in volume, high in CPC, and I want to go after keywords that have a low SEO Difficulty.

So that’s abbreviation of SD. It’s like digital marketing company has a high CPC, volume’s not bad, low SEO Difficulty, which means people are typing that in, me being an agency, probably a good keyword to go after, because it probably converts well if people are paying $17 a click.

And the way you do this is you just create content. So there is a Content Ideas section of the tool, and it’ll show you all the content per country, so you can break it down by whatever country, or language, or region you want. And, technically, you can break all the reports down by that. And you want to look for articles that are somewhat popular, because it’s breaking down the social shares, as well as articles that have decent search traffic, as well as a lot of backlinks.

The Biggest Impact on SEO

Eric Schmidt the ex-CEO of Google once said, brands are the solution, they’re not the problem, right? It’s how you sort out the good companies from the cesspool. And I’m paraphrasing his quote, but you guys get the point. It’s pretty much saying brands are important and brands are a key factor in Google’s rankings.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
How to Build a Global Brand (7 Shortcuts I’m Using to Build My Brand Internationally):

Growing Your Brand on Facebook:

How To Create A Compelling Brand:

Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

So, I once, over time I noticed a trend, more and more people were typing in my domain name into Google. So my domain name is neilpatel.com for one of my sites where people are typing in my name, Neil Patel SEO, Neil Patel tools, Neil Patel Ubersuggest, Neil Patel content marketing, et cetera variations of my name.

And what we found is if we didn’t build links or anything, well our brand spiked from PR or whatnot, and it spiked for a month or two, all of our ranking skyrocketed. And even when the PR went down and the brand queries went down, our rankings maintained or close to maintained to their peaks. So we found that Google loves brands.

Like, we’ve seen and tested sites in different regions globally. And even if you build links, you write the right content, you’re super thorough, we found that if you don’t have brand queries, you don’t rank as high. But if you have a ton of brand queries and you barely have links or anything like that, your ranking skyrockets.

There’s an algorithm change back in 2009, that was a big brand update, I believe. And since then, bigger brands have been getting a benefit. Now, “bigger brands”. It doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be a bigger company, right?

You don’t have to be a Nike or Wikipedia. You just have to be a big brand for the keywords you’re trying to rank for. And you don’t have to be the biggest brand. You just have to be somewhat of a brand. Like, my brand queries suck compared to Nike I get roughly a hundred thousand visitors a month from people googling Neil Patel even though my domain name’s neilpatel.com. But yeah, I still rank well, and so does Nike but Nike probably gets a hundred thousand queries every single minute.

You do YouTube, you’re on social media, you blog, you speak at conferences, you build a brand. And you do that whether it’s personal or whether it’s corporate. and just look at how much business you got because of brand, not a lead, you have rankings and get traffic to your site, but it also helps generate business as well. And you can do that for a corporate brand, and again a personal brand, but very few people spend time and energy into it.

So I stick with the rule of seven. When someone sees your brand or hears about it seven times and interacts with it seven times they’re much more likely to become a loyal follower. Again, whether it’s personal or corporate.

So, simple things that you can do is, one, collect emails. If you collect emails, anytime you update your content, or have something new, like a YouTube video you can always blast it out. Two, you can do push notifications. So, anytime someone comes to your site, have them subscribe. Anytime you have new content or want to push out a message, let them know. Three, leverage social media all of the channels out there, because they believe that you’re not going to find someone on one channel or another, but you know, if you leverage all of them you’ll get something. It’s better than nothing. Four, engage with people.

How to Boost Your SEO Traffic with Sleeper Content (And Stop Promoting Worthless Content)

You look at all these SEO tools out there, whether it’s Ubersuggest, Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz, and you type in a keyword, like I typed in marketing tools here, and you’ll see a SEO difficulty number which tells you how hard it is to rank for that keyword on Google. Now, this data is pulled through backlinks, but how can you figure out if a keyword is really easy or not to rank without going through all the effort of promoting the content? Today I’m going to break down how you can increase your traffic through sleeper content.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest (Free SEO tool):

How to Do SEO For A Tiny Site With No Backlinks (video):

My Favorite SEO Hack to Increase Website Traffic (video):
____________________________________________

As I mentioned earlier, if you use a SEO tool and you type in any keyword, whether it’s marketing tools or even just something like marketing, you’ll see how difficult it is to rank for a keyword. And some of these keywords are really easy to rank for. Some of them are much harder to rank for. But does that mean that you can’t rank for these keywords if you don’t have a ton of backlinks? No, that’s not the case, and the reason being is Google uses many factors. Links are just one aspect of it. Traffic without putting tones of effort through sleeper content.

So let’s head over to the neilpatel.com website. As you can see here, here’s my homepage. Scroll down, a little bit about me. And then now let’s go to the blog where you can find all my content. Now I’m going to show you my content. I want you to see what’s off, okay.

Some have little to no comments, like 12 or 8. But why is that? Why are some posts doing extremely well and others aren’t? Well, I’m going to share a little secret with you. The posts that tend to have a lot of comments I promote. I push on social media, like Facebook, Instagram, videos, and my live sessions. I’ll cross-link to them more. I even do email blasts, push notification blasts.

I give a ton to promote them so that way people get to know that content, they want to share that content, and hopefully it ranks higher. But you can only send so many email blasts in a day. You can only send so many push notification blasts. You can only promote so many posts on Facebook on your fan page before your audience gets irritated that you’re sharing five pieces of content a day.

So let me tell you a little secret on what I do. I create a ton of sleeper content.

I’ll cross-link. I’ll promote it more. I’ll try to build links by manually outreaching to sites. I’ll push it on social media. I may even do the email blast. But what I’m doing is I’m creating tones of content and publishing it. But most of my content that I publish like that, this is what I call sleeper content, which if you’re publishing it, you’re not really telling too many people about it, you’re not marketing it, it doesn’t all rank.

A lot of these pages that I’m writing content on aren’t ranking in the top 10 results or top 10 pages on Google. But a good portion of them are, and all I’m doing is just publishing content. The moment it gets to page two, I’ll start doing more marketing to try to get it to page one. And really what I’m looking at is not if it hits page two. I’m looking to see if it hits the top of page two or bottom of page one.

I’ve been doing this strategy for years. It works really well. And you probably haven’t seen a lot of this content because I don’t push it out in email blasts or social media mentions, but it works really well, and that’s how I’ve grown my traffic to millions of visitors a month. So let me know your thoughts. Curious if you like this strategy.

My Biggest SEO Mistake (And Why Your Organic Traffic Might Be Garbage)

Over the last 12 months I’ve driven 58.6 million visitors from Google. You will look at my traffic sets, you look at this graph and you’re like, wow, Neil you must be doing really well at SEO. And you know what you’re doing, but you know what? That’s not really the case. Today I’m going to break down my biggest SEO mistakes.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

As you can see here, 58.6 million visitors from SEO. That’s a lot of traffic to not have to pay for. And if I scroll down and I look at the traffic stats, coming from terms like Ubersugget which is fine. My name, Ubersuggest, affiliate marketing, my name, variation Ubersuggest.

But if I just keep going further down the list you’ll start seeing a lot of keywords that, aren’t really relevant to my business. And a lot of the key words of what I was optimizing for as you can see here, it was just pure volume. And I was getting a lot of traffic, but as you can see now my traffic starting to drop, why? Because my team, you know, at my ad agency we track leads and I can’t show you our leads in Salesforce because we track it all due to people’s personal information like their records or the company URLs.

But when we were tracking our sales through Salesforce of what’s driving clients for NP Digital , and typically people will click on let’s talk and submit a form or contact.

So we have two options to become a lead. And what we found is, most of these keywords droves, little to no leads. Now, if you go to neilpatel.com, I get my traffic typically from blogging, right? I can see here on the blog. And if you look at my content, I’m going after keywords that are very specific. Customer reviews in video ads.

So if I type in customer reviews video ads. The search volume, isn’t high. If you look here zero monthly searches, right? People aren’t really searching for a lot of these keywords but you know what?

We found that people who are interested in putting customer reviews in video ads or images, and they’re trying to figure this out are interested in conversion rate optimization which is one of the services we offer.

So the content that we’re producing on our blog is much more niche. How to create a free Google website for a business. This for us, this post is target local businesses because our SMB division helps localized businesses. How to create unique gift guides for e-commerce content.

And I spent so many years building up my traffic and it wasn’t until I got the traffic.

Look, the big lesson from this is, don’t optimize for traffic optimize for revenue. If your keywords aren’t generating you revenue, move on to new keywords. And when you’re doing keyword research, don’t make the mistake I did. Don’t just optimize for quote-unquote traffic. What I want you to do is type in keywords.

So don’t optimize just for traffic, optimize for traffic from the right audience. And before you go after keywords do your keyword research, type them into Ubersuggest, figure out what keywords have high volume and traffic while you’re technically they mean the same thing but also high CPC. And of course it’s related to your business.

So don’t just optimize for quote-unquote keywords and traffic optimize for relevancy. And if you do that, you’re going to be better. And if you need help with this check out my ad agency, NP Digital or if you just have questions, leave a comment below.

4 Daily SEO Tasks That You Need to Do (And That Produce Results)

Google, on average, makes over eight algorithm changes per day. That’s a lot of algorithm changes. So, how do you ensure that you’re doing all the right things to continually stay at the top of Google? Today I want to break down four daily SEO tasks that you ought to do.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

I’m at neilpatel.com/ubersuggest. Now some of the daily tasks that I do use Ubersuggest, and some of them don’t, and I’m going to break them all down for you.

So the first daily task that I like doing is checking my rankings. So if you’re on Ubersuggest, if you haven’t, you can type in your domain or a keyword, hit enter, and then I want you to go and click on the dashboard button. This is going to be where you add projects.

Project gets added and then your rankings will load. Sometimes it takes 10, 20 minutes for the first set of rankings when you just added your project. But let’s go to the rank tracking report and let’s look at, you know, as you can see here, I already picked up a few keywords.

Within the next five, 10 minutes, more will be picked up. Let’s look at one of my older profiles, Neil Patel, and I can pick custom time ranges, like last 30 days. And then you can see how your rankings are fluctuating over time.

And this is really simple because then you can see, all right, are my rankings going up? Cool. The ones that are going down, I will look at those pages and see what I need to do to improve them so I can get my rankings to go up back over time.

And I would look at, all right, who’s, and some of these results are localized. And I would just look and be like, all right, who’s above me? What are they doing? And what do I need to be doing to rank higher? So then I would just look at their pages and compare them to my pages.

The second thing that I like doing in Ubersuggest on a daily basis is I go to the keyword overview and I’ll continually search for new keywords. So I already know about the keyword SEO company, but I may type in keywords like digital marketing.

And what Ubersuggest will do is it’ll show you a list of keywords, some content ideas, list of keywords, and the search volume over time. So let’s say I look at the list of keywords. I’d be like, huh? You know, maybe I want to go after digital marketing company.

And I can add the keyword. And what I would do is I would look for other keywords that I haven’t added yet. I’m going to go down cause not all of them are relevant. I’m going to keep going. Let’s see. Digital marketing firms. I probably want to go after that keyword.

And then click add. And by doing this on a daily basis, when I go to my keywords list, I’ll constantly have more keywords in here.

So then that way, I can continually boost and increase my rankings because SEO is all about keywords. The more keywords you have, the better off you’re going to do, assuming you actually take time to create content around those.

The third thing that I love doing is just doing a regular site audit. So, as you can see here, neilpatel.com is already loaded, crawled. And if it hasn’t been crawled today, just click re crawl. And the reason I like doing this is, as you constantly make changes to your website, and you constantly update things, you keep getting more and more SEO errors or things can go wrong.

So I’ll look at, like, the critical arrows. These are some pages that take too long to load, and I’ll have my team work on fixing this because that’s more server related. For the issues that are more warnings or recommendations, some of them I can fix like a page without a H1. That’s easy. I can go fix that myself.

The fourth thing I like doing is to head over to Google search console. In Google’s search console, you’ll see where things are going wrong, where they’re not, and they’ll list good URLs, bad URLs, URLs that need improvement. You can open up any specific report. You want to see less red. And as your yellow increases, you want to see less yellow, and you just want to go through all the reports.

So, like, I like going through, like, the enhancements, like breadcrumbs. Make sure there’s no errors. I like going through, actually, AMP, breadcrumbs, FAQ, and I just go through them. Just make sure there is no major errors.

It’s a lot of little things. And by doing that, you’ll consistently rank over time and rank higher. So that’s it. Those are the four tasks that I like doing on a daily basis.

SEO For Beginners – The Easiest Way to Generate Traffic

As a beginner, there must be a simpler way to start generating SEO traffic without having to learn all this on-page code and build links. Today, I’m going to break down the easiest way to get more SEO traffic.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
______________________________

Ubersuggest:
______________________________

As SEO, eventually you will have to learn on-page SEO and you’ll also have to learn about link building. But when you’re just starting off, the key that you need to remember is content is king. When you have content on your website, you’re going to get more traffic. When you don’t have content on your website, you’re going to get less traffic. Google uses that content to put your website out there.

So when people type in phrases around anything related to your website, your content has a higher probability of showing up. So if you’re a beginner, the easiest way to generate traffic is to start writing content, but not any content, you have to actually write the right kind of content and I’m going to show you how to do that.

First off, I want you to go to neilpatel.com/ubersuggest. And I want you to type in a keyword related to the content you want to write. If you don’t know what keyword report to the content that you want to write, just put it in a keyword related to your industry.

The overview will show me how many people are typing in that keyword within my region, my region being the United States, on a monthly basis. I can see roughly how popular that keyword is. And then I can scroll all the way down to the content ideas. And then I can click view all content ideas. This will show me all the blog post ideas related to the term digital marketing that people are writing on.

And as you can see here, some of them aren’t that great or relevant. Some of them are good. And you just scroll down until you find something that you’re like, all right, I would write on this. So then you click the keywords dropdown and you’ll start seeing keywords, this has given me some keyword ideas on some keywords that I can use.

What I want you to do is go to the keyword ideas report now in the left-hand navigation and you see the term digital marketing that I just typed in. And if that’s one of the phrases, cool. What you’ll want to do is you’ll want to select it and then you want to click add to list.

And you probably don’t have anything here so you’ll want to label your list and then I’ll click a new label. So let’s do digital marketing blog post. All right, I got a label. Add keyword. And this will also give me other terms related to digital marketing. Digital marketing companies probably use a lot.

And then I can just keep going and I’ll keep going down and down and down and then I’ll go to the next page and keep doing this. And as you do this, you want to add those keywords to the list. So I would add it to my digital marketing blog posts list because that’s a blog post I’m writing.

If I go to keyword list and then I click on digital marketing blog posts and I can keep adding more to it, I now have a list of keywords that can potentially be included in the blog post that I ‘ m writing on when it comes to digital marketing or a guide to digital marketing, how to learn it and I can all these terms in there.

Now, granted you won’t automatically rank for all these keywords, but you will rank for a portion of them. And the more you include, the higher probability that you’ll have to rank for at least some of them. And if you’re including keywords that are related to your content and you go top down, what I mean by top down, we’ll go back to the keyword ideas report, when you’re selecting keywords towards the top and then you keep going down, the ones at the top tend to be more popular.

When you also select ones that have a low SEO difficulty score that are in green, those are ones that are easier to rank for. So if you select popular keywords that are easy to rank for, you have a higher probability of ranking for those terms.

And the key here is to create a list for every blog post that you’re trying to create. And don’t keep including the same keywords over and over again. What I mean by that is you don’t want to have 10 posts related to online marketing tools. So you want to keep using new keywords per post.

So you want to do this exercise each and every time you write a blog post. So that way, you’re targeting new keywords that will help you generate traffic. That’s all you have to do to start getting more traffic when you’re creating content, especially if you’re looking for SEO traffic.

The Painful Truth About SEO

SEO used to be simple, you write an article on a topic and over time you get rankings, you get some traffic. Even if you’re not on page one, it wasn’t that competitive, and you get results. But now with over a billion blogs on the internet, SEO has become super competitive. Just think about that. That’s roughly one blog for every seven people. And the way you get traffic, and the method you use to get those rankings has changed. Today I’m going to break down the painful truth about SEO, and how you can succeed in today’s market.

RESOURCES & LINKS:

Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

So how do you get traffic in today’s world? Well, it really is all about the long tail. And I want to show you the Neil Patel blog, so you can see, for example. How to read your website source code, and why it’s important. The keyword here, I’m going after not just website source code, I’m going after reading your website source code.

So let’s type in, how to read website source code. And as you can see here, if you look at the searches, not a ton of searches it’ll load soon enough and you’ll be able to see. But it’s something better than nothing, 10. And then when you look at a term like source code, website source code, you got 480 searches. And if you go after, website code maybe there’ll be a little bit better. You have 8,000 searches.

And the list goes on and on, and if you keep scrolling on the Neil Patel blog, you’ll see this the eight most important conversion rate metrics you should be tracking. 25 marketing books, you should be reading this. One’s a little bit more generic marketing books. You know how to leverage testimonials in paid campaigns. And I’m just showing you how to use testimonials not just in general, but in your paid advertising campaigns. And Google ad-words certified, right or certification, Instagram story highlights on a brand account.

I’m getting very specific with my content. And let’s take this one as an example of Instagram story highlights. So here I’m on Ubersuggest, you can just go to Neil Patel. I’ll actually go neilpatel.com/ubersuggest. And let’s type in the keyword, Instagram story the highlights, Instagram story highlights. And I’m searching in English United States, 3,600 searches per month.

And what I want you to do is start looking for longer tail keywords. So for example, if I have something on, let’s dive a little bit deeper Photoshop, right As you can see here, this article is on Photoshop classes.

And let’s go back to Ubersuggest, and let’s type in photo shop classes Instead of just optimizing for head terms, IEX Photoshop classes. I want you to look for a long tail terms, Photoshop classes online, Photoshop classes near me, Photoshop classes online for free, Photoshop classes for beginners. And there’s other related, you know terms as well.

But as you can see here, I’m going for long tail terms. So what I want you to do as an Ubersuggest is typing keywords that you may be going after. If I type in Photoshop, because a lot of micro marketers needed deal with design tools and editing images for blog posts or social media. You can see that is Photoshop free Photoshop online, download Photoshop, Photoshop remove background, Photoshop elements.

I would start writing articles on all these detailed terms like, how to resize images in Photoshop, how to remove your background using Photoshop. By doing this you’ll generate more traffic, by optimizing for all the long tail terms. And it may not be something that is appealing and is what you want to do.

But that’s how you succeed in the world of SEO today, in which you need a right a lot of traffic, or content around these long tail terms. If you want tons and tons of traffic. And by doing it I’ll show you what ends up happening to your traffic.

If you look here this is the neilpatel.com, Google analytics. I’m going to end up showing you real time stats, let’s click on real time. Hopefully it loads soon, got a lot of data.

Let’s go to global, and let’s go to real time. You can see here 1,962 people on my website, right then right now. All because I’m writing all this long tail content.

That’s how you win in the game of SEO in today’s world.

10 Title Tag Tweaks That'll Boost Your SEO Traffic

Wouldn’t it be great if you can just make small tweaks to your websites and increase your SEO traffic. Well, there are small tweaks that you can make that have a big impact. Today I’m going to break down 10 title tag tweaks that will boost your SEO traffic.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________

Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

There’s something that you need to know about SEO. It’s all about marginal gains. One thing isn’t going to get you that silver bullet or give you that sort of bullet so you can just beat all your competitors. It’s a lot of little things that really add up.

And title tags are one of those little things that really adds up, and I’m going to show you how to tweak them to get the most amount of traffic. And then I’m going to show you 10 tweaks that you can make with your title tag to really boost your SEO traffic.

Google’s using user metrics. It’s not just about how many backlinks you have or how good your site code is. If your copy is more appealing people are going to click read through and then go to your website.

So how do you get more clicks at scale? Because you may not have the Twitter following that I do or some of the other people do, but there still must be ways. And I’m actually going to break down 10 ways you can get more clicks through your title tags and modify them without having big Twitter followers, and telling people, hey, go click on my results.

This formula that I’m going to give you is a longterm solution to get those clicks. So that way you can rank higher without building more links or optimizing your code. So let me break down 10 hacks for you.

The first title change that you can make is start making your title tags questions.

Now I wouldn’t recommend doing 15 word title tags because that’s not enough room to put in keywords. But you can do 30, 40 characters. Once you start going 50, 60 characters we actually see less click through rate even though you can put in more keywords.

We also see a 45% increase in click through rate when they exact query is in the URL.

Power words are like effortless, simple, gorgeous, anything that just describes what you’re trying to get across. And the more power words that you use or adjectives, the better off you’re going to be.

You also can see a 17.3% higher click-through rate for titles that contained emotions versus ones that did not contain emotions. So the more emotion that you can convey the better off you’re going to do.

And here’s one of my favorite ones, a 5.8% higher CTR. If you have a meta-description. This is one of my favorite ones because it’s super simple. A lot of people don’t add meta descriptions to their page. Believe it or not, I know that sounds crazy but it’s true.

And titles with years tend to generate a 4.9% higher click through rate. For example if I have an article that is how to start a blog. If I put how to start a blog in 2025, assuming the years 2025, then it can generate more clicks versus if the year’s not there.

And evoking curiosity can increase your click through rate by roughly 5.9%.

Titles that resemble education have 10.4% more clicks. Although that’s probably not that educational or like how to rank number one on Google. How to install a toilet. Those are all examples of educational, informational articles.

And my last tip for you is look at the people who are running ads and look at their copy. Because those people have to optimize for quality score.

Google wants them to have high clicks because Google makes money on a cost per click. So if their titles suck, they don’t get tons of clicks which doesn’t make Google as much money.

So learn from them because that ad copy can help you generate better titles. And once you make these changes you have to give it roughly 30 days before you really start seeing results. So you have to be patient.

SEO For Beginners: 2 SEO Tips For Faster Rank On Google 2021

(2) SEO For Beginners Tips For Faster and Higher Rank On Google In 2021.
I rarely create beginner SEO videos however, I feel the two SEO tips in this video will certainly help out your search campaigns.
Not only help with how fast you rank in Google but also it will allow you to make better decisions when targeting keywords for ranking.

SEO Consultation:

So the two main SEO tips in this video have to do with simply looking at the SERP and not only tools that you might be using. I urge you whenever doing keyword research or perhaps looking to see who is currently winning in the SERPs.

Not only looking at a competitor ranking in a SEO tool but also look at the search engine results pages to see what types of pages are currently winning and along with diving deeper into the pages and seeing what type of pages they are.

Aside from the listed tip above I urge you to look and see what Google is showing the search results for a particular keyword or a keyword phrase to see if Google feels it is the same keyword.

Meaning look at the results are they the same for each keyword that popup are looking at and if Google shows the same results than we know we need to create one page to rank or perhaps create a supporting piece of content and not just a dedicated web page.

Here's How You Assess and Improve a Website's SEO – Neil Patel's Website SEO Breakdown Session

Typically when we’re evaluating these metrics we score them from zero to 10. 10 is better. You could have a five in some categories or two or a one or a nine or even a 10. And the goal is to try to get to 10 in each and every single category. But as you’re doing SEO with your own website what you may realize is it’s hard to get to 10 everywhere. And it’s hard to fix everything at once. So, I’m also going to give you guys feedback on stuff, no matter if your website was selected or not that’ll just help you guys succeed.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________

Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

So first I want to break down the concepts behind the website breakdown. So you can also break down your website as well. We put them into five main buckets; Content, search intent, that’s things like your content length, internal linking.

Your off page, like, are you using, you know, natural links? Do you have toxic links? Do you have a lot of backlinks or very little? On page; are you using things like schema markup, good code like h1 headings and all that stuff, all tags. Technical stuff, like site speed, SSL, robots, crawlability.

And then you have mobile, is your just site mobile friendly? Does it load fast? Are you using advanced mobile pages? Stuff like that.

Start with the stuff that has the lowest scores that’s not doing as well. And then eventually try to get that up higher and higher. So let’s first start off with the Content Breakdown. 93% of online experiences, start with a search.

If you don’t understand what people are searching for, you may end up getting search traffic but will that search traffic even convert to revenue? Probably not.

And you also want to make your customers enter your product funnel as quick as possible so that there is no issues because the last thing you wanted it to take weeks if not months for them to buy. It’s just no one has the time for that.

So going after keywords that are small is fine but you want to go after big and small keywords, not just small they are going after bigger keywords as well.

We find that the bigger images rank better and get more traffic. You also want to compress the file size and you also want to have a unique name.

Keywords must appear on the title. 80% of the people read the title and they say only 2 out of 10 or 20% will click through and read the rest of the article. We prefer the keyword to be the first word in the title.

We want the keyword appear in the first paragraph. That’s helped us a lot. We want keywords are related keywords. That must appear within at least 40% of the headers.

Internal subtitles should be formatted in h2, and we don’t use h1’s for that. We use h3 if needed if they’re subheading underneath the h2.

The main keyword that we are going after. We try to have it in the text at least a handful of times, hence the word five or handful.

Keyword must be in the meta-description and you want to use that, not just to have keywords but also to get clicks when people are searching and you want to keep your URL short and to the point.

Short URLs rank better, ideally a few words only in the URL.

All headers should be bolded. And for every thousand words, just a general rule of thumb is we try to do internal linking five to 15 times.

And you want to ensure the links opening new windows. Sometimes I make a mistake on that but that’s what people prefer.

Your text should have at least five internal links if possible two in the conclusion, if you’re struggling to fit them in.

If you’re going to do one thing in the summit just take any one of the tactics you learned, whether it’s from me or the other speakers and just implement one thing in your business, you won’t go wrong.

And if you just do that once a month for a year you’ll be shocked on the results that you’ll achieve in a good way.

Is SEO Really Working For You?

You spent all this time doing SEO, but how do you know if it’s really working out? Today I’m going to break down if SEO is working for you.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

Now, it’s obvious you’re already starting to rank high on page one, you’re getting more traffic and you’re getting more sales, but there’s this weird honeymoon period when you’re doing SEO, the first two, three months, sometimes even six months, you’re not getting the results you want, and you’re putting all this time, effort and money into SEO, and the question is, “Should you continually be spending that money? Is it really worth it?” And there’s a specific way you can see if SEO is working for you.

So first off, I want you to head to Ubersuggest neilpatel.com/ubersuggest, you can type in your domain name, like I’m typing in neilpatel here, and you’ll see Ubersuggest load.

Now, if you have a brand new site, you may not see a graph like this. If you do see a graph, your ideal goal is for it to be going up and to the right. That’s the first leading indicator that SEO is working for you. If it’s flat, doesn’t mean all hope is lost. If it’s going down, again doesn’t mean all hope is lost. There’s ways to reverse that, but more so you want to figure out if SEO is working for you and the he easiest way is to first see if the graph is going up and to the right.

The second thing that you can end up doing to see if SEO is working for you is I want you to click on the dashboard link on the left side of Ubersuggest. If it requests you to log in, make sure you go and log in, and I want you to click on new project or create a project. You put it in a URL. So I’m going to end up putting in one of my company websites, Np Digital, and then click next, type in the cities that you’re going after. For me, I’m going after United States, and click next.

The next thing you’re going to want to do is put in your keywords. So, as you can see here, it’ll give you a list of recommended keywords. If you’re a brand new website, you may not have that. So, I’m going to type in keywords like SEO, that I may be targeting. I’m going to type in keywords like marketing, SEO company, and then the next thing I’m going to do on the next page is going to say track my competitors. Some of these may be your competitors, some of them may not. It’s pulling based on common keywords.

Now this project is brand new, so let me go over to the Neil Patel project. All you have to do is on your dashboard, click see more, under tracked keywords, and you can see your rankings over time. You may see a gray box like this, if you’re doing just, if you just started, because you won’t have too many results when it comes to rank tracking.

If you have been doing it for awhile you can change your date range, like I do last month, and you can see Marketplace Facebook, and the keyword I may be tracking is LinkedIn, and you can see if it’s going up or down over time. That’ll give you a good idea if SEO is working for you. And you can continually add keywords, like I can add the keyword, SEO company.

I can add another keyword like SEO, and then I just click start tracking my rankings, and it’ll take a bit, because Ubersuggest says has to crawl, but as Ubersuggest crawls, you’ll end up being able to quickly see, all right, what am I rankings? And as you can see is pretty quickly here, right? SEO, that’s my rankings for it. SEO company.

Even though your traffic’s not going up, if your rankings are going up, that’s a good leading indicator that SEO is working for you. So that’s how I judge if SEO is working. Once you’re getting the traffic, then I look at conversion rates, but for now I recommend creating a project in Ubersuggest, tracking the main keywords that you’re going after, so that way you can see leading indicators of SEO is working for you.

Keep in mind, if you’re not raking in the top hundred, you’ll just see a little dash, a little line like that.

If you’re ranking in the top hundred, you’ll see a number, and the more greens you see over time, the better off, and I recommend you daily rank tracking because, as I mentioned, Google does on average over eight algorithm changes per day, even though most of them are small. It’ll give you a better understanding of what is happening.

The Dumbest SEO Hack (That Works)

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a dead simple SEO hack that would just help boost your rankings, but didn’t require that much work. You don’t have to be that technical. You don’t have to build links. You don’t have to worry about keywords and yet you can just increase your rankings, well there is. Today I’m going to break down the dumbest SEO hack.

RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________

Ubersuggest:
____________________________________________

When I talk about the dumbest SEO hack, I don’t mean it in a negative way. I say it’s dumb because it’s really dead simple. It’s really obvious, very few people do it and it just works. So this is the neilpatel.com blog, as you can tell by the URL up top, neilpatel.com/blog and I’m just going to go into one of my blog posts.

And as you scroll, and if you don’t have a blog you should consider adding one. You know, you see a normal blog post. You see comments at the very bottom as I scroll and then, you know, more people can leave comments if they want, through the comment box and you just see a footer navigation, but there’s something simple I did that just has really helped me boost my rankings.

What’s one thing that I did that just really helped me boost my rankings? What do you think it is? It’s actually this section here where it says guides. Okay, let’s go through them. I have a guide on digital marketing, online marketing, Google ad-words, Facebook advertising, remarketing, SEO, content marketing, growth hacking, social media marketing, affiliate marketing, conversion optimization, marketing automation.

Now let’s Google all of them in order. Digital marketing, so digital marketing. I rank somewhere at the top on page one. All right, what’s the next one? So one for one, online marketing. Online marketing the key word. All right, I’m somewhere at the top as well, there you go. Now let’s go to next one, Google ad words. Probably not at the top for that one because it’s a Google branded term but I’m probably decently ranked.

Search and watch, WordStream I’m on page one, okay. And that one’s not bad, 550,000 searches, $8.46 cost per click. Next one Facebook advertising, Facebook advertising. Again, probably not number one because I’m not Facebook, but where am I at? On page one, cool, all right.

Let’s see, remarketing, that’s a one-word keyword, that one may be a little bit tougher. Google at the top, Google, Google, WordStream there I am, page one, towards the top. Next one, SEO, all right. I already know I’m on page one for this. All right, what’s the next one? Content marketing, content marketing, where am I? There you go, what’s the next one? And you could be like, oh, Neil’s not incognito.

Well, let me type in content marketing in the incognito browser, let’s see where I am. Copy, that’s at the bottom of page one, see, still page one. All right, and now let’s go back to the word blogging. I doubt I’m on page one for blogging. I’m on page one for blogging, growth hacking. Growth hacking, opt-in monster, opt-in monster number four.

What’s the next one? Social media marketing, social media marketing. The next one after that’s affiliate marketing. Social media marketing, buffer, sprout social word stream. Who’s sweet, Neil Patel. Let’s type in affiliate marketing, Neil Patel. That was the next one on the list.

Conversion optimization, then marketing optimization or marking automation, conversion optimization. Let’s see if I’m on page one. There you go, and then marketing, it’s marketing automation I believe yeah.

Now when you’re doing this, don’t just add in the link, add in whatever makes sense. Like with some of these, you know, online marketing, it could’ve put internet marketing or it could’ve put different variations, but my audience calls it online marketing.

So I put what’s relevant. I don’t put the word search engine optimization because everyone calls it SEO. I didn’t put Google ads even though that gets searched a lot.

I put ad words because most the people I know still call it ad words. So I don’t emphasize on the keyword, but by putting a lot of internal link juice, it helps with the ranking. So try that out, it’s really simple.

***************************************
Keeping SEO and PPC separate is a mistake. You’re missing out on a ton of reliable data that can be used for SEO to gain the long-term benefits of free and passive search traffic from Google and YouTube.

The first use case is to find keywords that result in conversions.

Not every keyword you bid on or rank for is going to result in customers. But Google Ads has a conversion tracking feature that lets you attribute an action on your website to a keyword.

How do you use this feature to find keywords that convert well? You’ll learn how in the video.

The next use case is to find keyword opportunities and pages that can benefit from on-page optimizations.

According to Google, 15% of queries they see every day have never been seen before. That means billions of queries are going unnoticed and if Google doesn’t even know them, then third-party keyword research tools probably won’t either.

How do you use this knowledge to find keyword opportunities? Watch the video to find out.

The next use case is to improve click-through rates on your organic search result.

It’s widely believed that a higher click-through rate can lead to improved rankings. But even if it doesn’t, more clicks equals more visitors.

Now, since search ads allow you to manipulate the title and description, you can try different versions of ad copy to try and find a winning combination.

How do you do this? You’ll learn how in the video.

The next use case is to get backlinks by advertising for queries with “link intent.”

Some pages will naturally earn links consistently simply because they rank at the top of Google. And that’s one of the huge benefits to Google search ads. You can pay to have your page appear at the top of Google’s search results.

But you can’t just advertise for any keyword and expect it to lead to backlinks. Otherwise you’d burn through your budget with little to show.

So the goal is to earn backlinks at a reasonable cost, whatever that might be to you.

The best way to do that is to bid on queries that have so-called “link intent”, meaning, the people searching for the query are actually looking for resources to link to.

You’ll learn who these people are and how to find them in the tutorial.

Most myths are harmless. But the same can’t be said for most SEO myths. So, we need to bust these common myths and get you focused on tactics and strategies that’ll move the needle.

The first myth we need to debunk is that SEO is dead.

Journalists like to say that many things are dead. These kinds of headlines often lead to opinion editorials that end up being nothing more than clickbait.

SEO is alive and well. How do we know that?

You’ll find out in the video.

The second myth is that Google only ranks “fresh” content.

Does Google rank fresh content? Of course. But Google also ranks content that hasn’t been updated in years.

The thing is: freshness is a query-dependant ranking factor. That means fresh content matters for some search queries, but not so much for others.

Learn how to tell when a query relies on freshness in the video.

The third myth is that duplicate content will get you penalized.

Duplicate content is exact or near-duplicate content that appears on the web in more than one place. But there is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty.

The thing is: Google and its representatives have said on numerous occasions that Google doesn’t have a duplicate content penalty.

But that doesn’t mean duplicate content is good for your site.

Why? Find out in the video (plus, how to find and fix this issue.)

The fourth myth is that SEO is a “set it and forget it” job.

While SEO can lead to free, passive, and consistent traffic that doesn’t fade over time, it doesn’t mean that you can simply rank your pages and call it a day.

SEO is like going to the gym. It’s ok to miss a workout here and there, but you have to go consistently in order to get and maintain those results.

If you choose to ignore all efforts after you’re ranking high, you’ll likely lose backlinks while your competitors are building them. Your content will get stale for queries that rely on a freshness factor.

The fifth myth is that social shares help you rank higher in Google.

It’s reasonable to believe that the more your content gets shared on sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, the higher those pages will rank. But Google’s John Mueller has said that social signals don’t directly impact rankings.

Learn why this myth persists in the video.

The sixth myth is that Pay Per Click Advertising won’t help you rank higher in search.

Paying for ads doesn’t directly influence rankings. Google won’t rank you higher in organic search just because you’re paying them.

But PPC can indirectly help your pages get more backlinks because of increased exposure, just like social shares.

How? Watch the video to find out.

And the final myth we’re busting is that SEO is always about ranking #1.

We all want top Google rankings. But there’s a point where boosting your position for a single keyword may not be worth the required time and effort.

Why? You’ll find out in the video.

Now, these aren’t the only SEO myths that are out there. There are more to cover. But when you understand why these myths are not to be believed, you’ll be better off with your SEO strategies.

SEO can take a long time to get any kind of meaningful results.

While you can’t “force” Google to rank you faster, there are actually a number of quick things you can do to improve SEO for your website.

One of the easiest things you can do is improve page speed with lazy load. When you implement lazy loading, things like images or videos will only load when they’re visible on the page.

This will reduce initial page load time, initial page weight, and system resource usage, all of which should positively impact performance.

Find out what tools you’ll need to enable lazy loading in the video.

Next, improve clickthrough rate for pages ranking on page one.

It’s widely accepted in the SEO community that pages with a higher clickthrough rate can help increase rankings.

And since 75% of users never scroll past the first page of search results, it’s better to focus on improving CTR for your first page rankings.

Learn how to do this in the video.

Third, send emails to everyone you link to. This 10-minute outreach strategy is a great way to passively earn links and grow your network. You will learn how to do this in the video.

Fourth, add internal links to your new pages.

Internal linking helps to improve crawlability, gets your pages indexed faster, improves topical relevance, and distributes PageRank to other pages so you can rank higher in Google.

To learn how to find relevant pages to add internal links from, watch the video.

The next tip is to become a power skimmer of HARO using Gmail filters.

HARO stands for help a reporter out. It’s a free service where journalists can ask questions, and anyone can respond and be a source for mega publications like The New York Times and Forbes.

The thing with this service is that they usually send 3 emails per day which can be quite overwhelming, considering 90% of the queries probably won’t be relevant to you.

So, a quick hack to make sure opportunities don’t get missed is to lighten the load with Gmail filters.

How do you do this? Watch the video.

Sixth, perform an annual content audit. A content audit is where you analyze the performance of all content on your site to determine whether it should be kept as-is, updated, deleted, consolidated, or redirected.

You’ll find out how to perform a content audit in the video.

Lastly, repurpose your best-performing blog posts to videos, and your best videos to blog posts. You’ll learn how to do this in the video.

Timestamps:

0:39 – Boost page speed with lazy load
1:25 – Improve clickthrough for pages ranking on page one
4:02 – Send e-mails to everyone you link to
5:47 – Add internal links to your new pages

The 8-Step SEO Strategy for Higher Rankings in 2020

In this video you’ll see my exact SEO strategy for 2020.

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll learn in today’s new video:

#1: I’ll show you how to do keyword research in 2020. The keyword research game has changed A LOT over the last year or so. Today, you want to find “Opportunity Keywords”. I will explain what they are and exactly how to find them in the video.

#2: You’ll learn how to create content that ranks today. Traditional content formats (like list posts) don’t work as well as they used to. So if you want to rank on the first page of Google in 2020, you need to change things up. Specifically, you need to make sure that everything that you publish has a “hook” that will push bloggers and journalists to link to you.

#3: How to build backlinks. Yup, link building is still a super important part of search engine optimization. But the game has changed. Today, it’s all about getting white hat backlinks from authority sites in your industry. And I show you how to build legit links using proven link building strategies.

#4: Skyscraper Technique 2.0. This is a modern-day spin on a classic content marketing strategy. Skyscraper 1.0 still works. But to rank your site for competitive keywords, you need to use The Skyscraper 2.0 approach too.

#5: Lots of advanced SEO tips, examples, case studies and more.

STOP Paying for SEO Tools – The Only 4 Tools You Need to Rank #1 in Google

STOP Paying for SEO Tools – The Only 4 Tools You Need to Rank #1 in Google | When I got started in SEO, there were dozen of tools out there. They were all expensive, and, hey, unless you wanted rankings, you would have to pay for one of these tools. But times have changed. There’s not just dozens of tools now, there’s hundreds of tools. And because of that, there’s a lot of free ones as well. Today, I’m going to breakdown why you should stop paying for SEO tools, and only use these four free tools if you want to rank number one on Google.

RESOURCES & LINKS:

Google Search Console –
Structured Data Markup Helper –
Google Trends –
Hello Bar –
Mailchimp –
Subscribers –
Ubersuggest – ubersuggest.org
Moz – moz.com
SEMrush –
Jumpshot –
Ahrefs –
____________________________________________

So, tool number one. You ready for this? Google Search Console.

Here’s what I love Google Search Console for. I do a comparison of my traffic right now, for the last 30 days, to my traffic six months ago. And I look for the pages that have the biggest drop off in impressions and clicks. I now know that these are the pages that I need to go back on my site, go and adjust and update.

You may add some videos if you think that helps improve the experience. You delete the stuff that doesn’t make sense. You shorn out the fluff, because sometimes, you may have just long articles because you were trying keyword stuff.

The second tool I have for you is Structured Data Markup Helper. Look, if you want those star ratings on your site, you want to be included in the rich snippets, you want your listing to stand out, you got to use structured data.

But how do you use structured data? Well, it’s complicated because depending on the type of website you have, the structured data is going to look different.

So that way, when someone’s doing a search on Google, they can see all those little breadcrumbs, and that helps increase your click-through rate.

The third tool I have for you, Google Trends. This is super important. The reason being is if your brand continually gets searched more and more, you’ll notice that your rankings increase. So, it’s all about brand building. And you’ll find, “Hey, Neil, “why do I need to increase my brand?” Well, Google, Facebook, and all the social sites out there have issues of fake news.

And Google Trends shows you that.

Now, last but not least, another free tool, Ubersuggest. If you want to do SEO, Ubersuggest has the features of Moz, SEMrush, Ahrefs, pretty much the majority 80 plus percent of their features for free.

So, if you want to site audit, well there’s an SEO audit report in Ubersuggest that breaks down your load time, your title tags, your meta description, your code errors, your URL issues, your redirect issues.

And it tells you how to fix each of them. And it breaks down in priority on which ones you should change first to get the maximum amount of traffic. You’re looking for more keywords to go after? Ubersuggest also has a keyword ideas report.

And the keyword ideas report shows you all the keywords that you can go after. According to Jumpshot, roughly 49% of the searches that happen on Google get no clicks. Well, with Ubersuggest, they’ll show you keywords that are based on questions, comparisons, prepositions.

These are all high intent keywords. So if you after them in your copy, you’ll find that you’ll get more clicks, more traffic, and those visitors that are aligning on your site will convert because you’re not just going after generic keywords now. There’s also backlinks report.

You can put in any URL of your competitor or your site. Shows you who links to them. And then you can hit up all those people, assume you put in a competitor URL, and ask them to link back to your site if your content’s better.

This will give you an idea of the type of content you should produce versus the type of content you shouldn’t produce.

And, of course, last but not least, there’s a traffic analyzer report that shows you how much traffic your competitors are getting versus you. So you have a rough comparison of what you need to do to improve your traffic.

And if you’re spending the majority of your time reading guides on how to do SEO rather than actually do it, you won’t learn anything.

So, this video will highlight some principles that are critical in learning SEO fast and effectively.

The first thing you need to do is to nail the fundamentals. You need to understand and learn what these fundamentals are before you can generate meaningful traffic to your site via search engines like Google.

Sam also recommends you apply the 80/20 rules to SEO. The 80/20 rule, also known as Pareto’s principle suggests that roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. You’ll learn how to apply this rule to your SEO education.

The next thing you should focus on is to refine processes rather than search for shortcuts. You’ll learn how to do this, as opposed to constantly seeking out shortcuts, hacks or the next shiny tactic.

The first advanced tactic I have for you is get to know your users. Everyone thinks that SEO is just about on page or link building. But here’s the thing, Google wants to rank what’s best for the users, first, second, third, fourth, and all the way down the list. The way you get to know what’s best for your users is you survey them. By using tools like SurveyMonkey and Hotjar you can find out what your users love and what they don’t. By adapting your content, your services, your product you’re much more likely to get that traffic from Google because you’re creating the best user experience.

The second tip I have for you is leverage schema markup. You know all those reviews and star ratings that you see when you’re doing a search? That’s called schema markup. If you’re using WordPress, you can just check out the Yoast SEO plugin. It’ll allow you to do schema markup with just a few simple clicks. It’s worth checking out, makes it easy. And that way you don’t have to learn a single thing about coding.

The third advanced tactic that I want you to try out is expand your most popular pages. See, content marketing is a big hit or miss game. You create a lot of webpages, a lot of content pages. Some get a ton of traffic, and others don’t. And you may be asking yourself why. The links, I did all the best packs to all of my pages. But why are some doing better than others? Well, a lot of times you just won’t have the answer. But what you can do, is you take your most popular pages and expand them.

The fourth tip I have for you is to send link juice to lower ranked pages. As I mentioned with the previous step, you have some pages that naturally do well, and some that don’t do as well. Well, the ones that don’t, go to all of your other pages that are doing well and internal link to the ones that aren’t. And see if that helps boost them up. What you’ll find is over time, those pages that aren’t ranking that well will start climbing higher and higher again.

Then I want you leverage infographics. You’re probably already saying, Neil, I’ve seen infographics, everyone has them. But no, I don’t want you to just leverage any infographics. I want you to leverage advanced animated infographics. Have you ever seen the infographics on how a car engine works, or how fast do cheetahs run? They’re animated by integrating gifs within your infographic they’re much more likely to go viral. And you’re gonna get way more back links.

Then I want you to leverage roundup post. The reason roundup posts are really good, and no one does this. I don’t know why. They used to be more popular three or four years ago, but they still work. Let’s say you’re writing an article on 101 SEO tips, or 31 SEO tips from 31 experts. By emailing all of these experts and getting them to participate, they’re not only likely to share your article on the social web, but they’re also likely to link back to that article and help promote it.

The last strategy I have for you is prune and crop. I know this one’s going to seem really hard. When you have an old site and you’ve been writing content for ages, there’s a lot of pages that just won’t do well even when you do the internal links and you send link juice to those low ranking pages. But start cutting the dead weight. When you start cutting the dead weight, more authority starts going to the pages that are ranking well. And it should help them climb even higher and higher over time. Follow those advanced strategies and you’ll start getting more love from Google

SEO For Beginners: A Basic Search Engine Optimization Tutorial for Higher Google Rankings

New to SEO? This tutorial shows you the basics of doing search engine optimization for your website to rank high in Google.
Subscribe ►

First, what is SEO and how does it work?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. By definition, it is the process of optimizing your website and webpages to get “free”, “organic” traffic from search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing.

As a business owner, blogger, or website owner, your job is two-fold:

First, you need to make it easy for search engines to understand what your page is about and create content that matches what we call, the “searcher’s intent.”

Second, you need to show Google and other search engines that your pages are ‘worthy’ of ranking.

In this video, Sam Oh teaches the a 101 into the world of search engine optimization.

There are plenty of clear examples and some basic (yet powerful) SEO tips to optimize a brand new website to rank #1 on Google (step-by-step).

The techniques that are taught in this SEO training include:

1. Keyword research
By doing keyword research, you can see the average number of times someone searches for a specific keyword phrase in Google each month.

Often times, the query that you think will be the most popular is often far from the truth.

Using tools like Ahrefs Keywords Explorer ( you’ll learn how to use the “parent topic” of a term to determine the best keywords to target for your pages.

You’ll also learn what not to do (ie. keyword stuffing).

Keyword research gives you clues on the language you should use to let both Google and potential customers know what our page is about.

There are a few vivid examples in here to illustrate the best practices on how to do keyword research. If you want to sharpen your keyword research skills, I highly recommend watching this series on doing keyword research in 2018 and beyond.

2. On-page SEO
On-page SEO is the process of optimizing web pages with the intention to rank high in Google. If you want to rank #1 on Google, then your on-page SEO will need to be right on.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn 4 simple, yet highly effective tips to ensure you are following Google SEO best practices. Having optimized web pages will set the foundation for your success in search engine optimization.

It will help Google understand what your content is about and help your customers find you.

A few of the basic tips include:

– Title tags
– Meta descriptions
– Heading tags (or H1 tags)
– keyword usage
– content creation
– competitor analysis

Learn more about our top 10 on-page SEO tips that actually work in 2018 and beyond.

3. Off-page SEO
Off-page SEO is often referred to as link building.

Link building is the process of getting other websites to link to your web pages.

Basically, links act as “votes” or other people vouching for your website.

Backlinks work in a similar way that you would refer your friend to buy a product from your favorite store because you’ve tried it, used it, and loved it.

In general, the more quality backlinks you can get from relevant pages, the higher you’ll rank in Google.

Sam will show you how to find backlink opportunities and the key technique that SEOs use to build links, which is through email outreach.

I highly recommend watching our video series on competitor backlink analysis and link building here:

We also have another playlist on more “advanced” link building.

There’s a lot to learn with SEO marketing and we’re constantly adding new tutorials to help you learn and execute SEO in effective ways.

SEO For Beginners: 3 Powerful SEO Tips to Rank #1 on Google in 2020

SEO For Beginners: 3 Powerful SEO Tips to Rank #1 on Google in 2020

Are you new to SEO and want to rank #1 on google this upcoming year? Here are 3 SEO strategies that will boost your rankings!

#1: Focus on content
Google has this update called Hummingbird, and with Hummingbird, websites who just have content on everything won’t do as well as sites which focus on one single niche and are super thorough.

You want to be VERY thorough with your SEO content. Poke holes in your content and fill them all up, so then that way people are like, “This is the end all site “that you should end up reading “if you’re interested in dating online.”

#2: Optimize your title tag and your meta description
Have you ever done a Google search, and noticed that every time you do it, there is this link at the top, and then there’s this one sentence with a link at the top is called the title tag.

And the description below is called the meta description.

Now think of it this way, if you search for the phrase online dating, and you don’t see the word online dating in neither the title or the description, are you going to click on the result?

Well if you are, there’s something wrong, because why would you click on a result that isn’t related to what you’re looking for?

In addition to that, have you ever searched for a term like online dating? And have you ever noticed that the word isn’t in the title or description?

That’s because Google tracks who’s clicking on what listing, and they’ve learned that when a keyword is in the listing, that same keyword that you’re searching for, they know you’re way more likely to click through.

So in your title tag and your meta description, make sure you include the keyword. But you can’t just add the keyword, “online dating,” right?

The easiest way and what I would do and I wish it was this simple; I will just put “online dating, online dating, online dating, online dating.”

If I could put it 20 times so people would know that the article is on online dating, I wish I would get more clicks.

But it’s not that simple.

Yes you have to include the keyword in your title and your description, but it has to be appealing. If it doesn’t flow in a sentence, it’s not easy to read, and it’s not appealing or evoking curiosity, no one is gonna click through.

#3: Use Google Search Console

Did you know that Google gives you a tool that teaches you how to rank number one on Google?

Yes I know that sounds ridiculous but it is true, and it’s called Google Search Console.

If you’re not already a user of it, sign up.

It doesn’t cost a dollar. You’re missing out if you’re not using it.

I can’t emphasize that enough. So now that you’re using Google Search Console…give it a few days because it takes some time to populate data. You’ll see a screen that shows Search Analytics and this shows you all the pages on your website that are getting you traffic. But the cool thing about Google Search Console is they also show you which articles are getting impressions.

Take all the keywords you’re getting impressions for and start adding them to your copy.

Now we have an article on Instagram, and it teaches you how to get over 300 targeted Instagram followers per day.

The article is around 10,000 words. When I first wrote that article, it wasn’t 10,000 words, it was roughly 2,500.

I went to Google Search Console, I saw all the people that are searching for terms related to the article, I added them within that article. I made it more thorough and you know what?

My SEO traffic more than tripled to that article. Yes it is that simple. And when I made that change, it didn’t happen right away, but I noticed the results within 50 days. That’s not a long time.

Now that you’ve learned these three tips, I challenge you in which I want you to take these tactics and implement them, and then after you implement them, in the next 45 days I want you to leave a comment with your results. Because if you’re not doing well, that means I’m not happy.
